  • How many Stratocasters have Fender made?

I was going to take some pressure off Satmanjf on another thread by reminding him just how many strats there are out there but the number has proved remarkably elusive.
    Anybody know?

I have no idea either, but since the beginning of time, there has to be a million of them.

How many different variations / models, or how many in total?

You'd have an easier time figuring out the former... most companies are hesitant to publish the number of units produced and sold, since they consider that confidential / proprietary information.

Since it's one of the most popular electric guitar designs of all time, and has been in more or less continuous production since 1954, it's safe to say that the total number is into the millions. Add in all the Squiers, and it's even higher still.

I'm also curious how many guitars were produced with Les Paul's name on them. IIRC, he made a deal with Gibson where he would get a royalty on each one that was sold.

Thank Ratae, I figured it would be around that, it is an interesting paradox that 86 of that 73 are red.
