Members waltchwarzkopf
Hi guys, I've been playing guitar for quite some time and usually look at the classified for used guitars and amps that may be good offers. I found this Ibanez RG320FM for 180CHF (for simplicity let’s say 1CHF = 1USD) which seemed like a good deal to me. I have a modified strat with a fixed bridge and a single humbucker, a HSS pacifica with a Wilkinson trem and sperzels, so this HH with a FR (Ibby Edge III) seemed like a good addition. After looking at the ad again, everything seems to be in order, BUT the pressure pads and bolts are missing from the nut, is this a deal breaker? I know that without this parts it will not be “double locking”, but I could order the pads online or even try to make them at my workshop. I try to get the price as low as 150 to compensate for the missing parts. I had a RG321MH and I really liked the neck and sound of the pickups, this one has pretty much the same hardware, except from the trem/nut and the fact that this body is basswood and the other was mahogany. What do you think? Should I go for it and find/make those parts or should I pass? I really like the looks of the guitar and will, of course, try it before buying it. I’ve read that the Edge III trem is not that bad, and since it’s my first FR and I’m not a tremolo abuser, it should not be a problem. Summing up, here are the specs: RG series 5-way switch (neck series, neck parallel, both, inner coils, bridge series) Great condition (from the pics) Infinity 3 & 4 humbuckers Comes with a Gig bag, not shown in pics Manufactured in August 2006, from the serial number. Pressure pads and bolts are missing from the nut. Members RaVenCAD
The 320 is a good guitar and well worth that asking price. The missing pads and screws can be bought on Amazon for about $15. I'd buy it without hesitation if it was local to me.
Members Preacher
Good looking guitar, in my opinion.
Members badpenguin
Nice guitar, and if local, I would buy it, no hesitations. The locking nuts and screws can be had on feebay for 5 bucks USD, so yeah, grab it. I have found that the INF3 neck pickup can be on the muddy side, and this is from someone who generally LIKES a muddy neck! I think it's a good dear, especially for the 150 mark. Members waltchwarzkopf
Thanks guys! I did find the replacement pads for about 5 bucks each at an online shop, so total 20 with shipping. I remember from my RG321MH that the neck was a bit muddy, so I installed a capacitor as a treble bleed and it sort of fixed the problem. Do you think this would be a better option? http://www.tutti.ch/zuerich/musik/instrumente/angebote/neue-e-gitarre-ibanez-roadcore-rc320-transparent-cherry-_17566464.htm

Members badpenguin
I have an 03 S470DX made by Cort in Korea.. Refinished it, and think it's one of the finer playing guitars out there. I would take it over the RG in a heartbeat. MUCH better bridge design, 22 frets, as opposed to the RG's 24, and incredibly comfy to play.

Members waltchwarzkopf
Just a quick update. The seller said that the price was negotiables so I offered him 150CHF and I haven't heard back from him since then. Either he found my offer offensive or he does not want to sell anymore....
