How to repair Tru-oil Finish?

This is a bass guitar, but I figured it wouldn't really make a difference with the question I'm asking.

So I filmed a music video recently and I had lent my precious MINT bass guitar to the bassist of the band to use in the video. At one point he accidentally tripped and fell backwards. The bass guitar hit the concrete floor pretty darn hard to the point part of wood even "split".

While I'm not too concerned about how it looks since it's at the bottom, I'm more concerned about it getting worse since the wood has split a little. It's a Warwick-style bass so it's got that similar Tru-oil finish.

Is there a quick and easy way to patch this up without having to purchase specialised tools or products? I've got some similar coloured furniture wood putty, wood glue, and sandpaper up to 1200 grit.

What are your thoughts?

First step is to confirm what the finish really is. Call Warwick.

If it truely is TruOil (a trademarked polymerized tung oil) then I might be able to help - I've worked with TruOil before. I don't have experience with other products so I won't be able to give advice.

edit to add - keep glue and filler away from it right now - it will really stand out when you repair the finish

Thanks for the responses! It's also not a Warwick Bass, but more a copy Warwick. The craftsmanship is pretty identical though IMO.

I guess I've been quite fortunate to have been given this bass by company themselves.

They took it off my hands and said they will attempt to repair, otherwise they'll just give me a brand new replacement.

Sorry to have made this pointless thread!
