Members Bucksstudent
Are you sure you're not afraid of wearing out the frets? And I find it ironic that you put stickers on it like a fourteen year old when you were so worried about resale value.
Members badpenguin
And EMG's...... let's kill the natural tone it has.
Members DeepEnd
Glad you're enjoying your Les Paul. I wouldn't mind the stickers if they're tasteful but I'm a bit surprised by you wanting to put EMGs in it.

Members jtr654
I or one like EMGs you just have to work with them to find the sound and tone you like.
Members hellion_213
I know there's not a lot of Active love on here, but you all do realize that a Ton of the hard Rock/metal music from the 80s to now was recorded with EMGs? David Gilmour uses EMGs, even has his own signature set. There's a reason a Lot of artists use them. Now, the sticker thing.........

Members Les Paul Lover
What would really be killer would be to rout it to fit a Floyd rose. Wouldn't that be grand?
Phil O'Keefe
Louder does not automatically mean better.
Members hellion_213
No, I'm defending your decision to potentially install EMGs. Check my signature, im an advocate for EMGs.
Members hellion_213
I have the KFK set in my Beast (81/85). Absolutely Awesome! Push through any pedal chain, and they'll push an amp like no passive can. Roll the volume knob, they clean up. Dime the volume knob - searing leads and punch you in the throat rhythm. Tight and articulate. In another thread, I was considering passive for one of my backup guitars, but why? Nothing truly beats an 81.
Members hellion_213
I could definitely see a top mount Floyd FRX (no routing, maybe a little on an archtop, I'm not sure) as an improvement. Currently, Gibson's other-than-Bigsby offerings are somewhat slim.

Members badpenguin
EMGs, .........the loudest? Kramer Quads, Motherbuckers, Dimarzio DP107, some of the Dragonfires are ALL "louder" then EMGs. Do some research before speaking when you haven't a clue. Members Bucksstudent
it would sound killer It's not about just the sound. That's subjective. Gilmour's black strat is a classic guitar, and when he switched to EMGs, he also had the good sense to use a different Strat. Putting EMGs in a Gibson Custom might sound okay, but it's silly. It would be like mounting a pickup on an old Stradivarius.
Members hellion_213
Not really, because Les Paul Customs are made every day, they're not old. Zakk Wylde has had them installed for years.Three are LP Customs, four have EMGs -https://www.premierguitar.com/articles/20017-zakk-wyldes-5-favorite-les-pauls?page=
Members mrbrown49
So much nonsense in this thread. Changing pickups is a reversible mod. Save the originals and go for it.
