Phil O'Keefe
Somehow I suspect you didn't pay $89 for it... Congratulations on the new / old guitar!

Members GAS Man
Congrats! That sounds like a good score. I bought the RI Silvertone a year or more ago, and I find it to be a very entertaining guitar as well. But yeah, 4 bills for "vintage" + case sounds like an investment. Members fuzztone
Thanks Gas Man! I got the perfect amp for it too. Found it in a local pawn shop. It is a 1967 Penncrest Trojan S6616.It was made by Valco For JCPenny.
Members GAS Man
That's pretty sweet stuff. HW'd point to point. Imagine what that would cost today. I do like the, what I call, "garage band" tone of stuff like this. My first guitar was a Prestige with 4 pickups and 4 slider switches, so I have a soft spot for the vintage "general store" instruments of the day. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v118/turquoisemoleeater/guitars/prestige4pickupguitar.jpgNot mine, but mine was the same. Members humbuckerstrat
The first electric guitar I ever had was a Sears Silvertone that looked a lot like that one, if not the exact same model. I bought it from a friend for about $30, it must have had a broken truss rod because the neck was pretty bowed. Sometimes I would plug it into my Philco Stereo which had jacks for a guitar and mic. Despite the bowed neck I learned a lot of stuff on that guitar. I mostly played it unplugged because when I plugged it in the neighbors downstairs would complain, lol. This was in the early '70s.
