Members 75guitar
Hi, Recently purchased the below Epiphone Emperor II guitar from a local pawn shop and am trying to determine what year it was made and anything thing else about this guitar. In researching the web I find a lot of Joe Pass Emperor II's that apparently (at least in 1 online source) replaced the "regular" Emperor II in 1995. That being said, this one has NO "Joe Pass" markings on the pick guard, truss rod cover, or anywhere else. Logic would suggest that this dates this guitar pre-1995 however the 1994 and earlier models I've seen pictures of have different tailpieces. Made in Korea. Serial number is S5036695. Any information on what I have here would be most appreciated! THANKS! Rick
Members DeepEnd
Here's what the Guitar Dater Project site says: Your guitar was made at the Samick Plant, Korea on March, 1985,1995 or 2005 Production Number: 6695
Members *BLEEP*
No "Joe Pass" signature on it anywhere makes it a 1995 or earlier. However, the fact that you have an Emperor with cherry sunburst finish will make it an earlier model from the 80s. So, you have a 1985 Epiphone Emperor.
