Members James Hetfield Acne Scars
How are you supposed to adjust these things with the adjustment under the neck? Take off the neck? Why would any company make them that way?
Members Grant Harding
That's pretty vague. Is it accessible at all? What model, etc.
Members Freeman Keller
Take the neck off like you do with (some) Fenders. Measure your relief carefully because you will have to extrapolate how much to add or remove when the tension is off of the neck - it might take a couple of cycles of assembling and disassembling until you get it dialed. http://jvmforum.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=5306
Members mrbrown49
On some guitars with truss rod adjustment at the heel, the truss rod nut can be accessed by removing the pick guard. Not sure about charvel. What model do you have? Even if that's the case it's probably easier to loosen the neck screws, tile the neck back, and get at it that way. Members Floyd Rosenbomb
Yep, take the trem strings off and pop off the trem, then the neck. Worst way to have to do it.(I love warmoth's side adjustment btw.)
Members badpenguin
It's old school, but, it's still done today.
Members Grant Harding
Stewmac sell a little specialty tool for this. I agree that it's a pain though. There are much better options these days. http://www.stewmac.com/Luthier_Tools/Types_of_Tools/Wrenches/Truss_Rod_Crank_for_Tele.html
Members James Hetfield Acne Scars
For those who asked what model, its a pro mod san dimas wild card 6. Looks like this DSCN0143.jpg The truss rod tool koiwoi posted won't work but its a great idea, wish the was one for this thing.
Members Grant Harding
Oh well. That would be a deal breaker for me. Even if it wasn't a hassle taking the neck off I prefer to tweak it while it's string up and fine-tune it.
