Members Chordptrn
Now that they are supposedly reverting back to 2012 specs? Did you postpone buying a 2015 hoping for the turnaround in 2016?
Members badpenguin
Nope, wouldn't bother buying a new Gibson, when older ones come up reasonably cheaply.

Members DeepEnd
Short answer, No. I could actually afford to buy a new Gibson if I could get it past my wife but honestly I don't play well enough to justify one. I prefer to build my own to '57 specs Sure but most of us don't have that option.
Members onelife
I might, if I liked the guitar.
Members Grant Harding
I'm gonna say no. I prefer less well known brand$.
Members Bucksstudent
Uhh... Considering a Hummingbird Pro. I want a high end acoustic, like my Epiphones, and figure I'll give one a shot.
Members BG76
Yes. They have that $1000 Firebird and a cool Explorer. I plan on one of each.

Members Chordptrn
Hard to justify a $3000 guitar when your kid needs diapers.Guess a $300 Epi will do until the inheritance comes in,
Members Mr.Grumpy
Generally out of my price range too. I wish I had bought a re-issue Moderne when they were released a couple of years ago.
Members WRGKMC
I'm still considering a Firebird when I get my bonus check from work. I've wanted one for a good 45 years. Last time I shopped for a Gibson I bought the 40th anniversary model Paul (The one in my Avatar) over a Firebird. The one they had for sale new at Sam Ash had issues with the truss rod rattling inside so I passed it up. It may have just been loose but I wasn't about to get stuck with a Lemon. Not for that kind of money.

Phil O'Keefe
Yes. They have that $1000 Firebird and a cool Explorer. I plan on one of each. That Firebird caught my eye too. Wish there was a non-reverse version too though.

Members wankdeplank
A poll might have been a better option here as I don't imagine that many forumites that obviously have guitars are suddenly in the market for a new one. I have a nice Gibson LP from 2000 that has all the features I want (including Grover tuners) and none that I don't want (auto-tune, circuit boards). I also admit to having a bit of an older is better bias, which was reinforced when a friend brought his recent purchase LP over recently.
Members speakerjones
Nope. If I wanted a Gibson, I would purchase used.
Members Chordptrn
Nope. If I wanted a Gibson' date=' I would purchase used.[/quote'] One of the big drawbacks of used is that on a lot of the ones I've tried, the frets are shot. Deal breaker. I prefer to start new and wear them out myself.
Members Grant Harding
Stainless steel frets are standard on most expensive guitars. Highly recommend!

Please stick to Gibson discussion. Gibson does not use stainless steel frets.
Members wankdeplank
Great from a durability standpoint but they do make for a harsher sounding instrument, IMHO of course. Had a Custom Shop Washburn with them, didn't care for the tone in comparison to my Gibby and US Hamers.
