Members wankdeplank
None of the big boys wanted to follow his act on stage. He made Clapton nervous and what'd BB say? That he was channeling from up above or something.

Members gdsmithtx
He goes from sleepy and yawning and, frankly, probably hung over, directly to tearing it the F up in zero seconds flat.

Members Chordite
I sometimes put this marathon session with Stevie and Albert on like an album whilst I'm round the house. Always enjoy it. Members Floyd Rosenbomb
Give you and me a life time supply of cocaine and still we'll never be able to play like him. Outside of his drug problems (which he overcame) he had boatloads of talent.

Members knotty
Yep. Can't argue with that. Substance abuse does seem to unleash an artistic something though.
Members Freeman Keller
I saw SRV's second to last show at the Gorge amphitheater in Washington state, 1990. I've heard a lot of good music over the years, that was some of the best.
Members gdsmithtx
Yeah growing up in the early-80s Houston area, I had all kinds of opportunities to see Stevie Ray locally before he blew up and became SRV. He was already a monster in this region, and there's always a big contingent of Texas artists in all genres that don't get enough notice. That same complaint can probably be made for 30 states. I saw him seven times before his death, including twice in one day at "Randy's Party", a huge Miller Light/Randy Quaid event at the Astrodome in 1989. He shone so brightly on a small stage outside in the liquid-asphalt heat of the afternoon following the Isley Brothers. But inside the dome, in the evening, he took the stage and stole the damned show before the headliners, The Who, even appeared. The Who put on a damned good show, but Stevie Ray was the star of that night. He equalled the legendary El Mocambo performance.
