Need help to identify Sears guitar.

It is definitely a Teisco.

That pickup is actually one of my very favorite pickups of all time.

Not too hot, not too twangy, but it definitely has a tele-ish vibe to it.

When I can find them, I use them in Lap steels I build or modify.

 

On you guitar, I'd look for a different bridge setup, and probably move the pickup to the bridge position,

unless you are after that Harmony H-44 vibe. That neck, if not warped, should be tweakable to play fairly well.

I'd recommend doing it yourself, as many luthiers/setup guys will mock the guitar, but once the bridge is swapped out

and the pickup is moved, and the neck is fine-tuned, it can be a decent player and you can probably find a use for it's sound

somewhere in your music.

- one of a (moderately) modified SX Lappy with that very pickup in it...also a rails-HB with a few switches just for fun:

- the other is my own Teisco with 3 of those pickups on it...the neck has been worked and is amazingly playable... I may put

some wide frets and dress the daylights out of it.
