This is Jeff Lynne's favorite guitar......1974 Gibson Les Paul Gold Top with P-90's....

Jeff Lynne was more than a member of Electric Light Orchestra......he WAS Electric Light Orchestra (he wrote and sang and played guitar on most of their songs).....Richard Tandy played piano and synths......they used soooooo many synthesizer sounds......when Jeff Lynne stepped out of ELO to produce records, the remaining members formed Electric Light Orchestra - Part Two but without Jeff Lynne singing, it never really sounded like ELO.....

Some albums Jeff Lynne produced were:

I think he produced many of the ELO albums.....

I'm sure he produced all his solo albums as well and these:

Tom Petty - Full Moon Fever

George Harrison - Cloud 9

Del Shannon - Rock On !

Roy Orbison - Mystery Girl

(And I think) Both Travelling Willburys albums and I'm sure there were many more.....

He has a way to put "his sound" on everything he touches....his chord changes are

thought provoking and always interesting as are his lyrics....

Electric Light Orchestra - Out Of The Blue was written in 3 1/2 weeks in Switzerland (amazing accomplishment)

I like the whole album.....

ELO's best albums were from "A New World Record" in 1976 forward....

"Out Of The Blue" was released in 1977

This is one of those album covers that was really cool on vinyl....

CD and cassette album covers are so small....he was trying to

combine a spaceship with the look of a classic jukebox....you'll

see this on some other album covers as well.....

I believe Jeff's Gold Top is actually a 72, there's a brilliant documentary somewhere and a lot of it is shot in his house, it's one of those houses that looks like a random warren, but round every corner there is a niche or a little alcove with a piano, guitar, mandolin, cello, and all manner of instruments in it.

This little documentary show's his contribution to the Wilbury project.

I especially like the bit where he talks about writing a song with Roy Orbison.

Thanks for sharing the vid - ages since I've seen this. Great to hear these tunes again - must dig out my old vinyl.
