Members Caffeinated Cat
I think I've poked myself once in the last six months. But it was a good one though lol.
Members billybilly
Once I was changing strings in the back of car, we got into an accident and I broke two ribs. Other than that, no.
Members Floyd Rosenbomb
I stepped on a cut off piece of a high e string once, went right up into my foot. Man, that hurt.Sometimes I think I should wear eye protection when cutting strings, probably a good idea.
Members DeepEnd
. . . Sometimes I think I should wear eye protection when cutting strings' date=' probably a good idea.[/quote'] I do prick the fingers on my right hand occasionally (calluses on the left) but a bigger concern is poking myself in the eye. I wear glasses but sometimes I take them off, especially when doing setup work, and it leaves my eyes vulnerable if the strings haven't been trimmed. Let's be honest, maintaining guitars is not for the faint of heart sometimes, at least for some of us.
Members tvvoodoo
I've poked my face, and my fingers. It's amazing how much blood a high E puncture wound will drip, and dang, can be painful too. I recall having bad strings letting go when tightening, that can be scary when your eyes are close
Members phaeton
I don't do it often, but I have. I also did once poke myself next to my eye. I wear safety glasses now whenever I'm changing strings and sighting down the neck to check relief/action etc.

Members Surrealistic
lol Must say though that I do seem to prick a finger or two more often than not these days. No big deal, but I'm sure I didn't do that so much once upon a time. Maybe I'm just getting clumsier in my old age.
Moderators Ratae Corieltauvorum Posted December 18, 2014 Moderators Share Posted December 18, 2014 That'd be OK for classical nylon strings, but not an electric set with a high E at 8.:-|
Members dick wiggins
Once the string stabbed me and it must have hit my bone because it HURT. And I had like a hole in my finger for months

Members Chordite
As I recall double ball strings was on my list of what every modern guitar should have a year or so back. Those old fashioned pointy bastards have pricked my fingers more times than the diabetes nurse. !
