NGD: Gibson, Thirty Years After

I got a 2014 Les Paul Classic Double Cutaway (that's a mouthful) last week. I've wanted one of these types of Les Pauls for years, but Gibson only releases them every few years or so. I played one and was hooked, which was pretty incredible, since it's been 30 years since my last Gibson; a The Paul that I bought used as my first "quality" guitar. I've not been able to play it much so far, but I'm thoroughly pleased ...

... I've noticed the majority of double cutaway Les Pauls I've seen had only a single volume and tone vs. the standard two of each. Any idea why?

I don't know, but since I'm a Tele guy at heart it's my preferred configuration ...
