Dude is 80! Heard an interview on the BBC yesterday, and he sounds like maybe 30-50, attitude of a 30-50, assembled a band he loves.

Greg Rzab (Warren Haynes band amongst a few few others)

Jay Davenport (Whole bunch of musicians from the Chicago scene)

 

Matter of fact they's all Chicago bluesmen really

^I don't know. I think he's terribly talented in his own right. I saw him perform live about ten years ago at a Bluesfest and he killed. He was the headliner and yet a lot of folks cleared out before his set. As a self professed "Blues Artist", not to be confused with "Blues Rock" and also being billed as the Godfather of British Blues, Mayall has always suffered from a type of reverse discrimination within the genre in my opinion. It's interesting that most of the artists that graduated from the Bluesbreakers went on to make a name for themselves in rock.
