A Rare (?) Parker P-40

Good day to all. I'm here in Mexico and I just traded a G&L Strat for a Parker P-40. Can't find anything on the web that matches this guitar model. It has the Parker Nightfly shape, not light at all, about like a standard Strat, maybe a half-pound lighter, likely ash or some other denser material. Has two Duncan USM HBs set into the wood, no plastic frame, no pickguard. Hardtail. One tone, one volume. No Piezo. String ferrels in the body a la Telecaster. It has an 8-digit ser number starting with 120. MiC.

Again, I've looked at about 30 sources and nothing comes up. I got the skinny on the PUs easily enough. I've read the P-40s were discontinued in 03, and I've read 2010.

Any help would be appreciated.

BTW, I've been at the guitar for 40 years and this is the most playable neck I've ever experienced. The shape is another story.

Thanx. JD

The manual shows P38/P38S/P40/P44 are basically the same model with some variances.

http://www.manualslib.com/manual/306...rker-P-38.html Or http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j...xzYMhMnoMSX2vw

The differences seem to be between the P44 and the lower end models. The P40 has an Ash neck, The 44 has a Mahagony and maple neck. The 38 & 40 Two singles and an Humbucker, and the P44 has two Humbuckers with Split Coil switches. Stuff like that.

Not sure how much the G&L was worth. I see some P38's on EBay being sold for around $350~$450

I've seen that link too. I see them in 2 or 3 different PU configurations for the 42, 44 and 40. My neck is maple. I have no split coil tap. No doubt it's the most basic model, no ornaments at all.

Here in MX the economy is bad in best of times. My G&L was advertised online, like a craigslist, for a month at a little less than 250 usd .. no tamale.

This Parker was @ 300 usd (in Pasos) for about a month as well. Odd, it looks completely brand new, not a mark on it.

IDing the ser # is useless. Too many variations with this model. And all the searches I have done I've never even seen a photo of it.
