I dug it, though their mix seemed a little undefined. I don't know if the heavy reliance on toms is doing them any favors. The guitar, bass, and keys just seemed like a jumbled mess to me ...

 

Well, that's typical of the Letterman mix. I like the agressive toms. It gives it that Black Keys/Vampire Weekend edge. Needless to say, you don't get Paul Shaeffer on the studio recording ...

What I would call a "talk show band." Instrumentally fair with unintelligible vocals. In this case lots of guitar distortion that added nothing to the band's sound. If you're going to sing I'd better be able to figure out what you're singing about, otherwise do instrumentals. BTW, the studio version doesn't cure the vocal problem, just makes the guitar cleaner.
