Members sammyreynolds01
http://reverb.com/blog/gibson-to-increase-prices-update-models-for-2015 I guess they are going to let Epiphone be their 100% budget models. It looks like the end of the low end Gibson line.
Members DeepEnd
Wow. a 29% increase if the Les Paul Standard is any indication. And the "G-Force" auto tuning system standard? Reminds me of what dad used to say about stuff like power steering on cars: "Just something else to break."
Members joy-z
They should bring back the Epiphone Elitist line to fill the void between higher end Gibsons and lower end Epiphones. Or at least produce more Chinese-made guitars with American pickups and better hardware, like their recent anniversary guitars (eg. '61 Casino reissue). Members billybilly
I think it's a mistake making auto-tuning standard. Personally, I could go either way but I know a lot of traditionalists who would not want one. It should be an option when purchasing, not standard. Members Willyguitar
I don't personally think the auto-tuning things are necessary... although I understand others who may find them useful so agree with billybilly
Members Willyguitar
... I wonder whether this is a cunning ruse to get people to buy buy buy up to December?
Members Tall
Prices on everything seem to be getting out of control. +29% is ridiculous. Wages are stagnant and have been for years. Good luck on this one Gibson.
Members webe123
Here I FIXED it for ya Gibson.... "Gibson USA continues to LOWER the bar of Quality, Prestige and Innovation with the new line up of 2015 guitars...by raising prices and placing an auto tune on every guitar....even if our buyers DON'T WANT ONE! " LOL!
Members WRGKMC
Yea, all they need to do is put "quality" tuners on their guitars and you wouldn't have issues keeping them in tune. The tuners I got on my 40th Anniversary model are the crappiest I've ever seen on a Gibson. I'm on my third set now. They look like Klusons and have the same footprint but they are riveted together instead of using tabs like the originals and have threaded bushing. One accidental knock on the tuners and it pops the rivets and it falls apart. Total crap. I would put a good set of vintage Klusons on it if they made a better version in gold. The only real option I have that would work is to use vintage Klusons and conversion bushings. If I use any others you wind up seeing the old tuners imprint and screw holes on the back of the headstock which looks like crap.
Members knotty
I cant see the attraction with the std. I went out with a view to buying a std or traditional.I came back with a studio pro. It plays better sounds the same and as non sunburst lover I think it looks better. Plus I saved more than half my budget.People who are set on the perceived "real" les pauls will not be put off by 29% on the rrp. They may be put off by the awful looking sig logo and autotune though. Members AJ6stringsting
They are over pricing themselves which could be a good thing for the Guitar and Bass playing Communities.I loved it, when back in the early 1980's, Gibson and Fender lost serious ground to companies like Jackson ( now Fender owned), Kramer ( now Gibson owned), Hamer and PRS, surpassed them in quality. because they listen to musicians and accommodated guitars in ways Fender and Gibson never could have.I have a 1974 Gibson Les Paul Custom and a Epiphone Les Paul Custom, both are equally great in their own right, Back in the 1970's, some Japanese companies : Greco, Burny and Edwards made Les Paul copies that surpassed Gibson by a mile and Gibson sued those companies for copyright infringement.I now build or assemble my own guitars and have gotten pretty good at it. Now I love the idea of assembling my own custom guitars to my needs and wants.Who knows maybe some folks will start their own guitar companies and do what Jackson, Kramer and many others did in the early 1980's and make Gibson and Fender eat humble pie !!!! Members sammyreynolds01
i still think fender still makes good guitars at the right price. i mean an american fender is still below $1500 but they also still make mexican made guitars for a lower price point. If I read correctly, that's something Gibson will no longer be doing.

Waiting till I could find a minty Studio Lite with stock grovers was one of the best decisions I ever made gear wise. No ten pound anchor with tuning issues. It's still around seven or eight pounds, a tad thinner which I like and sings with the best of em.
Members mark theriac
I knew this {censored} was going to happen. Gibson is going to price their guitars out of the market. Good for them. But corporate does not listen to us. Just exactly like when AMF took over Fender. Crank em out and boost the price, hell it is a Gibson so that alone will sell our product even if it less than high quaity. If Gibson looses it this time it will be all over for them. Members Fusion1
WHat about the brazz zero fret on ALL Gibson guitars? I can't see people who are purists that will like seeing this contraption along with the robot tuners and even the wider necks as standard on all Gibsons will put off some people (to be honest that is one area I might regard IMO as an improvement. If I had my say all electric guitars would have 2" nut spacing like a classical nylon string guitar) For them to charge 1/3 more for the guitar is beyond inflation, it is pure greed. Members Into Nation
Brass zero fret?????? It looks more like a brass nut. Maybe it will do better, who knows. The Studio I bought a couple years ago has that damn 'plinking' when tuning, guitars costing much less don't. So...

Members DeepEnd
Brass zero fret?????? The line is actually "brass zero fret nut". Apparently the idea is a brass nut that is fairly thin front to rear so that it acts like a zero fret. Unfortunately, the pic is too small to see details. The notion of an adjustable nut sounds gimmicky too: Among many of the added features is the new Zero Fret Nut which is a patented applied for nut that has adjustable action capabilities. I also wonder about the 27% thinner frets. All guitars receive a professional set up with accurate intonation, and a new PLEK program with 27% lower fret wire. Sounds like it will be that much sooner between refrets. All in all, more to dislike than to like IMHO.
Members mattthedjentleman
Although price hikes sucks (especially in this day and age of a crippled economy), the cliché "you get what you pay for still rings true." I feel like Gibson is trying to take initiative and capitalize on modern day electronics before other companies as well. I had the opportunity to place a Les Paul in a GC recently that was equipped with a G-Force and was pretty blown away to say the least. I play heavier music, so you could only imagine I dropped tuned the pup as soon as it was in my hands. I was impressed with how fast, easy and efficient the tuning process was. The guitar was in standard when I picked it up. I selected the "drop c" setting and it took 10 seconds top to get the guitar in the new drop tuning. Much faster than I could ever tune if I do say so myself. This is also a luxury because I could play a lot of songs I knew how to play in GC that I couldn't normally in that store since drop tuning is time consuming. Restringing is also a breeze to with the "string up" mode. I wasn't that huge on Gibson prior to this, but I appreciate the brand much more for taking this step forward. If I can get a good sounding guitar setup just right off the shelf, odds are I'm going to go with that rather that buy a guitar that still needs modification after a paid a good amount for it. That's my two cents on the G-Force.
