He was one of my favorite guitarists when I was younger, but I never got a chance to catch them live in their heyday unfortunately. (looks like you can only embed 1 link?)

I have seen them live and they put on a great show. The three of them playing was amazing. One of the times I saw them, Yngwie Malmsteen opened for them. He was so new that they did not even open the curtain for him. Rik Emmett is such a fantastic player.

Yeah, great player - really versatile too. I saw a TV program, perhaps on PBS, where he and Bruce Cockburn were in a studio playing jazz guitar. I was pleasantly surprised by both players because, at the time, I had only known what I heard on their respective commercial recordings.

anyone remember this? think it was one of those little floppy 45rpm 7"'s that came with the guitar mag.

 

 

Thanks for posting that - Ed was one of my teachers back in the late 70s - nice to hear the big fat bell like sound out of his tele again.
