  • anyone else bandless???

anybody out there without a band for whatever reason? I'm in school and don't have time till I gradute. so my question is what do you do? I'm getting bored with it. anybody in this same situation?? if so, do you record songs ( i do)? do you practice them over and over? what?

I'm sorta like you. I have no time for a band, but I do jam with some friends once in a while. Write some songs, practice new stuff, that should keep you interested for awhile.

I was in bands for most of the first half of my life. Then I got married (twice), had kids, etc., and didn't play for about 6 or 7 years.

Now I'm single again (permanently) and I'm getting back in playing shape and replacing gear that I sold off. As soon as I feel I have all the rust worked off I'm gonna get something together. I'm also putting together a budget home studio to keep me entertained.
Live playing gets in your blood and doesn't let go.

I can't find people to play with. That's how weird my luck is with finding people to jam with.
There are some guys in my class but they area always too broke and that angers me

                      B. Plays good music...but is 40+ years old

i have a band. things are looking up for us. our singer is out of jail and is angrier then ever. our original bassist is going to jam with us so we can finish our material for our demo/split with my friends band. going to bring back the slam style to new york's music scene. arent too many underground death metal bands in ny anymore, mostly hardcore bands around. we're going to try to change that, hopefully we do.

                            I am.

I play and practice by myself pretty much every night. I'm not exactly a fan of exercises, although if I did stick to a strict set I'm sure I could improve way beyond where I am now. I just like to play along with jam tracks and improvise over em; sometimes nice tasteful melodies, other times just mindless wanking, depends on my mood.

I do feel much better about improvising thanks to the jam tracks, so when I jam with friends I love to improvise solos. There are many players on the forum that could play circles around me, though (first people that come to mind are r0g3r and Soloway, even though they are different styles).

my drummer and i love to jam. we click on alot of the things we play. people think we rehearsed or wrote what we played but it just came out naturally.
