Members TheDove
Don't get me wrong I love my LP Standard (in lovely honeyburst) and IMHO I think the Les Paul is the best guitar in the world but I just don't like gold tops - am I mad ? Members Darkstorm
Nay. Doesnt like yellow bodies. On its ok as part of a sunburst finish. But no appeal to me at all for yellow by itself as guitars color.

Members Ryan Trevisol
Absolutely. I love goldtops . . . only trouble is, budget goldtops often neglect to put a maple cap on (because nobody sees it). Then all you've got is a yellow guitar. Members Prages
I hated goldtops when I was younger. Somewhere in my mid-20s, something happened and now I love the look.

Members wedgehed II
I understand where you're coming from. I hated them for years & thought they were piss-yellow eyesores. I bought an Agile goldtop as a way to get into P90s. I figured it was cheap & I wouldn't have to look at it while playing. I wound up loving the look. I actually started lurking on the Les Paul forum just to see the old vintage goldtops. On a related note, I also used to hate the look of Fender guitars in shell pink & surf green. Now I really like them.
Members BootRoots
Originally posted by superpoo im sure its been told a thousand times, but whats the story behind this guitar? It started its life as a stock 69RI Thinline. I had fellow HC member and ReFin Guru, Don DiMasi (aka Shovelhead) finsih the top in gold and he painted faux cream binding on it as well. Then he routed the neck for a bucker. I had pickguardian.com make me a single ply cream guard for it and added a dimarzio PAF classic and a 3-way toggle for series/split/parallel wiring. Members Milkman1
I love Goldtop Les Pauls, particularly after they turn a little green with age. Very classic looking.
