Members Dead Skunk
So, what would one sell for anyway? An ad on my local CraigsList: 1953 Gibson Les Paul Gold Top MUST SELL - $2900 Date: 2008-03-23, 6:35PM EDT must sell because some family problems..please email me for details 1953 Gibson Les Paul Gold Top I was amazed on how this guitar played and sounded. The shape of this guitar is incredible the checking is very light and minimal. The pots are clean and pickup switch works like it was a new guitar. I have never heard pickups like this they sound amazing and are very hot. The fret wear is very minimal for it still being the original frets. There is some wear on the fret board in the 2nd and 4th fret. The neck is good and straight and the tuners work very nice and hold pretty good. This item is a 100% original 1953 Les Paul Gold Top ONE OWNER!!!! I emailed and asked for pictures. Here is the response: Hello Thank you for your interest in my guitar. The price i am hoping to sell it is $2900 US. The shipping taxes are included in this price (that means i will pay all shipping taxes, as seller) Regarding the item i have for sale you have to know that this is 100% original, not a re-issued guitar. Members _pete_
Did they send pics? If it's legit, $2900 is a steal. Get the serial #. It smells fishy though.

Members Dead Skunk
Another response: Hello again, thank you emailed me and for your wilignes to continue our deall for the price 2,900 USD. I have researched and tested different payment methods and the cheapest ones are the slowest. I have found one that it is the fastest,to make the deposit. Their fees are high, but since I want to make this deal as soon as possible and I believe you are too, I will beprepared to cover all taxes of the eBay escrow service. here is how the transaction will work: 1.Buyer and seller agree on the transaction terms and a selling price. Seller contacts eBay Escrow with the transaction details; 2. eBay Escrow accepts the transaction and offers purchase protection to the buyer (if the transaction is declined, no further action is required from either the buyer or the seller); Seller will start shipping to buyer shipping address and he will provide all informations to eBay.The seller has ten (10) business days to send the buyer and eBay Escrow the tracking number of the shipment; 3.The buyer sends the payment to eBay Escrow agent. if the buyer will not send the payment to the eBay Escrow agent, in max 2-3 days the shipping will be put on hold 4.Buyer receives the merchandise and has 10 days to inspect it. If it is complete and as described, the buyer should accept the merchandise and notify eBay Escrow, if he refuses the merchandise, the buyer must ship the merchandise back to the seller within fifteen (15) business days, on seller expenses (he will pay the return shipping).; 5.After the inspection period is over, the buyer must contact eBay Escrow with the result of the inspection. If the buyer refuses the merchandise, the refund will be sent to the buyer after the tracking number for the returned shipment is verified. I will also use eBay Escrow to ship the item. I will ship cheaper because i am a member. The item will arrive at you in max 5 days after delivery. So if you are decided and you have the cash available, you like the item and you want to move on please email me your shipping details and a contact name and i will imediatly start the transaction. After that you will be contacted with payment instructions and other details about this transaction Thank you and waiting for your email

Members Dead Skunk
Didn't 53's still have the trapeze tailpiece? I think the 52's had it, but not the 53's. The pics looked ok to me, so now I'm guessing that she doesn't really own the guitar. I asked for a pic of the front of the headstock.
Members xtchc1978
That is in the CT CL too, Eastern CT, obvious scam..http://newlondon.craigslist.org/msg/616084125.html
Members Johnny Z
Didn't 53's still have the trapeze tailpiece? Yes but people took them off. I don't know if this is a sham or real but if it is it's a very good price. I played a '54 and the asking price was $4500 10 years ago. The truth, I had just bought a Epi '56 Goldtop new and I thought it played better then the Gibson.
Members Vantango84
this was on here last night. It was on a bunch of CLs last night, and it got taken off of all of them. It's a scam. end correspondence and flag it.
