Members kamzan18
I'm thinking of buying a guitar with a basswood body and a quilted maple cap. Anyway...what would good pickups for this ibanez rg-like body made of these woods? I'm looking for rhythm and lead tones similar to whats in megadeth's catalogue of music. Members kamzan18
Oh I forgot to mention...its got a floyd rosed bridge. But my question is a floyd rose pretty much a necessity to have that superlow action without buzz? Ive never played a guitar that didnt have a floyd rose that seemed it would be good for really fast tremolo picking so I'm curious about that as well. Members Ferdinandstrat
Most likely that Dimarzio Super Distortion of sorts(either 2 or 3), a Dimarzio Tone Zone or an X2N.

Super II is less inclined towards icepick metal, but does a good hard rock sound, fwiw.
Members kamzan18
i dont really care for the tones I hear in most modern metal songs like lamb of god though...I like dynamic tone like megadeth :-)
Members Ferdinandstrat
Megadeth used JB's exclusively. I am not sure what is Dimarzio's equivalent. Note that the JB is a very bright pickup so I am not sure if it will go well in a basswood body.
Members kamzan18
yea thats why I was askin hehe. Megadeth in the later years used mahogany bodies as far as I know.
