How do you pronounce "Hamer"?

They (Hamer) created this confusion themselves by creating that Hamer Slammer. It really was poor marketing. Using rhymes as a mnemonic for selling products is basic advertising, and their product name ran counter to that, so people assumed it was pronounced hammer and/or were always aware of the incongruity.

This is an interesting thread. I've owned three Hamers in the past, and the young fellow that owns the guitar shop I bought them from always pronounced it as in hammer, not hay mer.

So now I've learned something new today and have fulfilled my "learn something new everyday" requirement.

No, it's pronounced "hay-mer". It does not rhyme with "Slammer", despite the fact that they had a "Hamer Slammer" series of guitars so you would think that they would rhyme.

Why should I care really?

Some people pronounce "Ibanez" "Eebanez", and almost EVERY Russian guy(me included) pronounces "Gibson" "Jibson", I dont care.
