Might have been part of the recent events... If I get banned for this all the better, that would help me practice more and get my priorities straight. Anyway, here it is anew. If you posted in the first one, you can do it again as the first one just seems to have dissappeared. For me, my appreciation of doc goes back to the days when he was ol' docjeff and made me laugh my head off with a joke in a Gibson bashing thread. He has arguably the most gorgeous Gibson ES-335 on this board and I would even swap it for my SA2200. Doc's posts are always interesting. He has a playing touch and deep knowledge of what good tone is that make his clips informative and a joy to watch and listen to. He is the anti-thesis of the blinded Gibson whore. He knows a fantastic Gibson when he sees (or own) one and he knows a crappy Gibson when he sees one. And he can even speak a litlle german on vacation. Great contributor to this board. Completely dont agree with his banning, but I HIGHLY doubt anyone is going to have a problem with you posting one lonely little appreciation thread. I once presumed rather than knew that he was a good player. Then he started posting clips and he turned out to be a decent player but not a great one. Doc was playing safe and never played a wrong note which disqualifies him in my book as an interesting player. But that's ok, isn't it? Kudos to him for posting clips at all. Lots of people never posted anything for us to hear. I do remember one who did post clips and he was god aweful as a player but had incredible gear and could talk like an expert. Doc was a better player than that one. I knew him for his substandard Rickenbacker demos before I even joined here. While his Youtube videos were well produced, the execution left me unsatisfied. He played very basic chord progressions with each Rickenbacker model through a Marshall amp, and that was one of the only videos show casing various Rickenbacker guitars on Youtube for years! When he finally put up one with a Fender amp, I was quite pleased, but he wasn't highlighting the tonality of the Rics through his playing. There was a cool video of him with an ESP with EMGs that sounded great, as I recall. How he was able to afford all that gear as a professor was beyond me.
