Members 211dave112
So as much as I loved my dot before, i couldn't resist modding it to something totally different. sooo I've -filled the neck pup cavity -filled the lower f-hole -new trapeze tailpiece -h-sized p90 -single vol control -painted it metallic 'ford paris blue' still to do..cut new pickguard without the gap for a neck p'up. and pics :) really like the look and the sound is really nice too. and the playability is as nice as it always was. i'm happy :thu:
Members BG76
I would have spent a little more time filling that neck pickup. It's always worth it to spend more time in prep to get things perfect. Cool idea!

Cool idea! yeah i rushed it a little, but it's greatly exaggerated in the pic proper bright outside so any flaws kind of caught the light.

Members JoeFender
Awesome you could do that, so forgive the dumb question. Why? What does it sound like now, as compared to before? I'm interested in getting a 335/339 type guitar, and am curious what you didn't like about it?
Members Cerebrus
I don't like it. It looks like complete ass. But I don't like single pickup, single volume, no tone control guitars.

Members hazydaz13
I like it, it's original for sure...maybe ditch the pickguard, or get one in white pearloid cutout for only one pup...and a white pearl topped knob? anyhow, it's cool... Members datru
yeah i rushed it a little, but it's greatly exaggerated in the pic proper bright outside so any flaws kind of caught the light. You could always disguise it by installing a pickup there. :cop:
Members RaVenCAD
i don't like you. you look like a complete ass. I've been telling him that for ages.. I like the color, I like the 80's vibe with the single pup/volume, but I concur on the neck pickup filling. It stands out like a neon sign.. Maybe do something like this with it? Take the pickguard up to cover the entire neck pup area? Either that, or strip it and re-fill it to be smooth. That's what I'd do anyway, but then, stuff like that would keep me awake at night until it was perfect.. (ocd, ya know..)
Members GUITKRAZY
It is definately unique. Kind of Tom Delonge style (Hollow body with 1 pickup) Can I ask what color was it before and besides replacing the tail piece what othe mods did you do- did you replace the stock pup? If so with what? It is definately a cool color and kudos for changing it to fit your needs!

Members gatogordo
I like it, it's different. Love the color. I plan to make a tele that color with white pearloid bindings. Is that close to the Dave Grohl gibson color.
Members BG76
If you wanted it to look Pelham (the Dave Grohl color) you would spray a clear coat with some yellow in it to green it up a little. Only thing I would change would be the tailpiece - that one screams Jay Turser and the Asian makes. I would put a Bigsby or a 335/Casino style on it with the diamond. Members steve_man
No, it looks closer to the color on the Noel Gallagher Epi that came out a few years ago. LOVE that color. Sorry, but if it were me, I'd put the pup back in the neck position. That way you can enjoy the new color without worrying about the fill job being visible. But then again, I'm not a big fan of the one pup look...

Members sxyryan
I really like the look! While it has already been pointed out, that neck pup area.... I bet if you pulled the guard off, or got one that wasn't cut for a neck pup, the eye wouldn't instantly draw to that area.
