I saw an old Peavey 3x12 cab once, and I've seen Vintage Club combos that were 3x10s?, and every time i see something like that, I wonder, how does that work? 3 4 ohm speakers in series, 3 times 4 = 12 ohms 3 16 ohm speakers in parallel, 16 divided by 3 = 5.33 ohms Are they some bastard size speaker that isn't 4, 8, or 16 ohms, or do they use normal speakers, and the ohms are "close enough"? Members Jimmy Chitown Posted February 9, 2011 Members Share Posted February 9, 2011 2 - 4 ohm speakers in series (8 ohms)then wired in parallel with an 8 ohm speaker = 4 ohms[ATTACH=CONFIG]331512[/ATTACH] 2 - 8 ohm speakers in series (16 ohms)then wired in parallel with a 16 ohm speaker = 8 ohms [ATTACH=CONFIG]331513[/ATTACH] However, if the different speakers have a different impedance, the lower impedance load will have more power delivered to it.
