Members slashfacepalm
Hello all. I've googled this for quite some time but haven't gotten a definite answer. I'm contemplating getting a GFS body and making it transparent black. I know ReRanch carries all this stuff, and I know the generalities of it, but are there any alternatives aside from StewMac? Is it possible to get black stain/dye from Home Depot or something, and still somehow get a mirror finish? Are there any lacquers I can pick up there as well? I know Atrox did a black stain on a Strat, but I think it was matte, and not gloss. Maybe he can chime in on what he used to finish it. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. PS: Kinda like this, but without the burst.
Members wartoxin
just so you realize, that guitar is probably transparent normal finish instead of stain, I would thinks stains work out better in wood like colors, ie walnut. My fault, I thought staining and dying were synonymous. I've corrected my post now. I meant "dye". Here's the body in question:
Members DaleH
I use this stuff for tinting maple necks. Stain to the tint you like. You cut it down with water or alcohol. After it dries you can clear coat with poly, nitro. I use tru-oil on necks. http://www.woodessence.com/ColorFX-Dye-Concentrates-C12.aspx
