  • Whats best for polishing vintage gold plating?

Old gold plating on Gretsch hardware is getting rather green... Can I use brasso?

NO NO NO! Gold doesn't tarnish, it's inert, but it does rub off pretty easily! The green is from what's underneath or dirt on top.

My dad always told me they use as little gold as possible, so I know it's thin. I just want to get the green off.
If it matters, it's only green on the top edge (vertical side, closest to the fretboard) of the neck filtertron cover.

This is the only picture I could find on hand. I can't take a better picture until after the weekend
