Trade Tang Guitars?

I've been looking at some of the guitars from Trade Tang. These guitars are shipped direct from China and some of the guitars look great and the prices are exceptional in some cases. They also, in most cases include free shipping.

Any thoughts on them? Has anyone ordered from them?

There was a counterfeit Epiphone on here the other day, sort of a cross between a Dot and a Casino. Pretty thing, although I suspect the gorgeous flamed top might have been a photo flame or a nice veneer. I've seen a few other semihollows counterfeits close ups and couldn't see any kerfing , they just looked slapped together. As inexpensive as they are, I wonder if they would make a decent modding platform? Just get rid of the phoney name on the headstock... maybe make a custom decal for it... but still, you'd giving these assholes your cash.

Funny though, maybe the tides are changing. A while back, one of these fakes couldn't have been posted here without the community going ape {censored} but the fake epiphone had lots of folks gushing over it. I could see if you make a knock off or two for yourself, no harm in that but you start mass producing them...well.

One thing is for sure, somebody is buying these counterfeits. There are dozens of sites now and they even run banners on legit sites.

It would be nice if the policing agencies would confiscate them immediately when they touch the US shores.

Yeah but I really don't think that's going to happen, especially considering they seem to be doing very well sales wise. I'm pretty sure if they just took the name off the headstock, they'd probably corner the market. After all, what's the difference between these and what GFS offers, besides the brand name?

Generally build quality is worse than legitimate imports sold in the US for half the price...an Agile or AXL is much better made and cost less.

These are not legitimate businessmen, don't expect a fair shake. The pictures they use are often not the items for sale...sometime they use pics of the real deal Gibson, Ric or whatever and what you get doesn't even come close, other times the pictured guitar is the cream of the crop or was built especially for marketing. They know you have no recourse once it arrives, it's a known counterfeit. Often you can't even get a paypal or credit card refund because they can prove you willing bought counterfeit goods. And the concerns about financial and personal information are real as well.

Thanks for all your responses. I wondered about this site as they are advertising everywhere. I bought a cheap (price wise) hollow body that I think was made in China a few weeks ago but it came through eBay and was only $156.00. It was not an Ibanez but it was pretty good for that price. I think I'll pass on the Trade Tang.

what customer service:confused:... i sent a flanger pedal back to them in January that was purchased in December for an exchange. i wanted a set of Retrotron Memphis pups for my gold top. well, i got back burnered and after sending them multiple e-mails with no response i finally sent a nasty one. i was told that my exchange was delayed because the bridge pickup was out of stock when i know for a fact that it was in stock when i sent the pedal back, i went to the GFS site and placed both pickups in my shopping cart every other day for 3 weeks. so, i finally decide i'm gonna upgrade my Tele bridge and do some other stuff, everything i wanted was out of stock... i FINALLY settled on the Twin Clean Drive pedal and sent them an e-mail stating this... again, i waited 2 week with no communication and sent them another nasty e-mail and FINALLY got my pedal, which i'm very happy with... i had a similar experience with my tuner pedal, they had it for almost 2 months on a warranty issue and no communication... so, GFS will get no more of MY money...

Hmmm, they (GFS)have always been so good in the past. Sorry to hear about this.

True.

Cheap stuff but consistant at least and they did stand behind their products. For a while there too, lot's of great personal service from the owner.
