  • Anyone familiar with Fender Bassman 20 amps?

Posting in a few forums, anyone know anything about these

I have a chance to grab one, seems hard to find much about it.

      Indeed

From what I know it was just made for a year or 2 in the early 80's

18w Tube with solid state rectifier

      15" speaker

I have read it is PTP wired, im not sure about that

Trying to decide if I should grab it...

There's the review in the H-C reviews section:

        http://reviews.harmony-central.com/reviews/Guitar+Amp/product/Fender/Bassman+20/10/1

(its too bad the "Fender Amp Field Guide" website is gone - that'd have been the place)

Yeah I saw the reviews...seemed to be mostly bass players.

I was hoping some guitar player might have some experience with them.

I had one about 10 years ago. I used it for guitar. It sounded great. It was quite loud. For the life of me, I don't remember what happened to it. Definitely a guitar amp, for bass it's probably up there with the MusicMaster Bass amp.

I don't recall it being a big distortion machine. Just thickened up, with a little grind as you turned it up. If it's a decent price, you really should check it out.
I don't think it came with the greatest 15" speaker in the world, but it was adequate, and now there are many replacements to choose from.

Went ahead and picked this up

It is a clean machine, sounds pristine.

Yep, apparently the last year Fender did PTP.

Says they got line out and also make a great harp amp. cool

Yeah it's supposed to be a pretty limited run.
