But anyway this stuff is very good to familiarize yourself with. Especially in the middle register. But anyway this stuff is very good to familiarize yourself with. Especially in the middle register. Being able to harmonize your own melodies on the fly is an awesome technique to have once you develop it. I use these a ton and I'm even using other intervals the same way...if I can get away with it I've been using 4ths a bunch if I'm playing in a Dorian sound over a static minor chord or chords made of 4ths. I think it's about the only tihng I've learned in my 20 years of playing. I have no idea about the theory behind them but I play that type of lick all the time especially in a lot of the southern rock tunes my band plays. They sound great in the right context.
