Members tommytangent
I am looking for a back up and or a drop tuned "go to" for playing live... Resale not being a factor, which would you choose and why?
Members jrfan
I've bought a number of guitars from Rondo over the years, one arriving today.I'm assuming your buying new, to me that Agile isn't the bargain it used to be.The Epi is on sale comes with a case and free shipping not to mention a lifetime warranty.http://www.musiciansfriend.com/guitars/epiphone-les-paul-custom-electric-guitarhttp://www.musiciansfriend.com/guitars/epiphone-limited-edition-les-paul-custom-blackback-electric-guitarhttp://www.musiciansfriend.com/guitars/epiphone-limited-edition-les-paul-custom/519391000866000Rondohttp://www.rondomusic.com/product4386.htmlhttp://www.rondomusic.com/AL3100CSBFBLOND.HTML
Members IBDBB
The Agile 2k's are pretty much a tossup with most Epi's, including the customs, but they are $200 compared to up to $600.. The Agile 3k's are a very good step up in playability and quality (I sold my MIK Epi Custom shortly after getting an Agile 3k) and I have a GuitarCenter 5 minutes from me so I go and play new stuff all the time including the Epi LP's. Some things the Epi doesn't have is, the ebony fretboard, graph tech saddles, tusq nut, and I like Agile alnico pickups better than Epi's. As far as body woods and top woods, i'm sure it is similar stuff... Not sure if the Epi's have real MOP or abalone though, Agile does. I think they both normally have grover tuners. Members dcooper830
I'll take Epiphone's ugly headstock over Agile's stubby horn any day lol. JMO
Members yzfou
tried and owned both. I prefered the AL-2000 to my Epi. The 3000 is, IMO, another step above the Epi. Don't get me wrong, the Epi was a very nice guitar. But for some reason I never grew to like it, but I instantly fell in love with the Agile. I couldn't even tell you why, just better overall feel for me. But I don't think you can go wrong with either guitars.
Members mfergel
I'd go with the Agile now that the Epi's are made in China. The older Epi customs were awesome. New ones are good but nothing better than the Agile, especially since you can get a bound back Agile now, which is essentially their custom. Members honeyiscool
Agile > Epi in everything except for weight. However, weight is annoying enough that it might cancel everything out.

Can get a chambered Agile as well now so the weight shouldn't be an issue.
Members honeyiscool
There are like two chambered models compared to about 100 models that weigh 10 pounds.
