Members Jkater
Great lesson. And one of my favorite piece from Miles Davis. Playing over a vamp is more of a challenge than one might think.

Thanks! These songs always get taught to beginning jazz students because it's easier than a bebop tune or a 32 bar form standard but there is a serious difficulty in actually making music on such a harmonically simple canvas...the lesson itself is really geared towards rock players looking to phrase a little differently but I'm hoping that it opens up some ears to new sounds too
Members fretmonster
Very cool Mark. That record is like a sacrament to me. I like music, it looks like I'm in good company here.

It's almost like the "Zeppelin 4" of jazz, but it's really resounded with me over the years.
Members wagdog
Just finished this lesson Mark - thank you for all the work you put into this. Once again, enjoy the speed that you teach at, the background about the piece, and of course the nice clean tone of your guitar.
