Members honeyiscool
Anatomy of a Tool song: 1. Riffs based on playing a drop D power chord over and over again. 2. (But the time signature is so cool!) 3. Maynard whispering something for the verses and then going one octave higher to build drama. 4. Kicking in the distortion while Maynard holds a high note. 5. Maynard getting angry. 6. Adam doing a really bad guitar solo but he might step on a pedal or two. 7. You realize it's been going on for like 6 minutes. 8. Cool drum part, and the song ends. Members honeyiscool
yay stereotypes! They're often true, you know. Especially when it comes to how girls and guys in bands are different. The angriest feminist girl punk I ever hear still is very hook heavy. Not so much the angriest guy punk I hear. Members honeyiscool
See how the vocals are melodic and front and center and are the obvious focus of whatever they're doing? They even bother to harmonize? These are things girls are more likely to do than guys.

Members Help!I'maRock!
Better than monotypes. that depends. the Beatles or Cream in mono are far better than their off-kilter stereo versions.
Members honeyiscool
What, you don't like the Ringo and Paul on either side mixing method? Pssh.
Members Help!I'maRock!
My problem with most of that kind of music is that I think it wants to be taken seriously and it wants to be complicated. And if that were the case, it shouldn't be so predictable. all pop music (yes, metal is pop music) is predictable. if you want unpredictability in music, go listen to free jazz. Members honeyiscool
Yeah but one could say free jazz is predictable in its unpredictability. Inception?

Only thing this shows is you have spent no time listening to tool, and don't know as much about music analysis as you constantly brag you do. Was that what you intended to demonstrate? Members thecornman
I don't think the producers had to bring someone else in to lay the guitar tracks on Tools albums though.
