He was totally cool and sober.He did some play that I think was an original of his. I was about 14 years old and really in awe, because he was my hero and he was Fantastic!I also met Joan Jett at the Viceroy Park, Tyvola Rd. Charlotte NC in 1981...as well as seeing REM and hanging out with some unknowns at the Milestone, Tuckaseegee Rd. in Charlotte about that same time..
