I bought this packet (I think it's 11 pages) yesterday on a whim. I'm pretty fluent on the major scale 3 notes per string, but if I don't specifically practice it for a few weeks, I sorta need a chart to remember some of the patterns (getting old!). Yes, I know the notes, yes I know the patterns... but it's just not sunk in completely in all 7 positions for some reason.

Anyway, I had different names for what the author of this packet uses. I really like how he breaks things down simply, and spells out the patterns and rules. It's very simple and it works. Using this method you can play the major scale, 3nps from any position. It's easy to remember and makes sense - and I haven't seen this exact method anywhere else.

It's only a buck, and it's worth it. After spending an hour on it I don't think I'll ever need a chart again - I got it! thumb.gif

The major scale has to be second nature. After 40+ years I still find patterns and use it daily. It should be the basis for everything you learn about music in general and the guitar in particular. It should drive your understanding of melody.

Thanks for this. I usually approach the scales this way but this book takes it to a much further extreme than I ever have. I had a book called the Nashville Pattern http://www.guitar-scales.com/# that uses this method but sold it years ago. It is good to have a refresher and this is a wealth of information for only one American Dollar.

Not pdf. I went to this page, did what they said and am good to go: http://techtips.salon.com/read-kindl...ndle-2303.html

Get the kindle app for your particular computer or phone here: http://www.amazon.com/gp/feature.htm...cId=1000493771

edit: you do need an Amazon account, though.
