Members Suspicious Mail
I just pried the cover off of an Epiphone humbucker I had lying around. It was from an older model Les Paul... the one I affectionately refer to as "The PoS."Here's the result:Kinda hard to tell because of the rather insistent flash on my bargain digicam, but that's a clear plastic slab top, plus all the wax.I'm thinking that probably won't look cool reinstalled into the PoS... luckily I didn't have any intention of doing so anyway. The cover, incidentally, was only held on by the wax and some kind of brown, booger- like substance at the seams on the bottom. But there you go: The Science Of Suck. And hey, I got a free pickup cover out of the deal. Sweet! That pickup has now redeemed itself.

Oh this guitar is a total turd, man. My $100 SX (with stock electronics) even picks on it in the locker room.I'm tempted to see what the pups from my Sheraton II look like in the buff, as they're mediocre... which is to say way better than the one in the pic. Those are soldered together, though. Depending on what the next set into that guitar is, I may need to nick them later.
Members Geeter
I am curious about the "brown, booger- like substance", but that is one ugly pickup

It had about the consistency of a thin, dry rubber cement.

Couldn't tell you. This is a first for me. Like I said, I know that at the very least the pups from my Sheraton II are soldered into their covers... in addition to being better sounding pickups... so maybe this is just what they give you in coach. No fair! Lol.Also, I just flaked away some of the wax and it turns out it's not a slab after all... it's the normal shape, just... clear.
Members fps_dean
lol!!!! They are too cheap, or more like lazy to properly wax pot the pickup so they give it a wax top. How creative...

I'm with you on that. I wouldn't want it on most guitars, but there are some situations where I can see a clear bobbin pickup completing a certain look. Of course, if the pickup sounds like {censored}, it's not going to do you much good.
