Members AdInfinitum
Gibson discontinued this model. Does anyone know the reason why? Was the guitar flawed in any manner, didn't sell well or at all or are they coming out with a better one next year?
Members lz4005
Probably didn't sell well. Solid body 12's aren't all that popular right now.
Members AdInfinitum
I saw an Eastwood for around $500 that has a very good Rick sound. Not sure of the physical quality though.

Only reason to discontinue is if they weren't selling. That said, if they blow them out I will definitely jump on one!

Members bjcarl
Personally, I'd go for a Dean Boca...unless you're buying as a collector's item or hoping to flip it for a profit at some point.I'm willing to bet too few of us use electric 12-strings enough to justify spending $1000+ on one. Members AdInfinitum
Thanks for the heads-up from MF. I tried getting Sam Ash to meet that $1399 price for the Cherry Sunburst, but since MF and others only had Ebony or Gold-top, they couldn't/wouldn't budge in the $1799 price. After some back and forth on my part (plus calls to MF), as well as the 18 month no interest, I bought the Cherry Sunburst. Although I tecnically overpaid, I preferred the cherry over ebony and that was worth the extra $. The guitar plays and sounds great. I figured I'd kick myself for not buying this guitar especially if Gibson never makes a similar one again.
