Died today at 70 years old. Sure, Iron Butterfly was his claim to fame but Captain Beyond's debut album is a rock masterpiece.

Well, that's sad. Part of me yute has died there.

I hope his soul finds rest In The Garden Of Eden

I remember as a kid (at kid parties) trying to dance that 17 minute concerto.

And of course, you had to try to emulate that bombastic drum solo.

Well Dick, it's got a good beat, and I could dance to it, so I give it a 10!
I have opinions of my own, strong opinions but I don't always agree with them.

Thanks for letting us know. I saw Captain Beyond in 1972, I believe - they opened for Badfinger and Rod Stewart (I feel sorry for the latter too - CB smoked them...I still remember Bobby Caldwell's hair flying as he laid it down).

That's very sad news. I remember buying the 1st Iron Butterfly and the 1st Led Zeppelin LPs the same day at EJ Korvette back in '69.

One chord is fine. Two chords is pushing it.
Three chords and you're into jazz
