Well this sounds like a great topic for the next HCEG Argument Thread Series.

What you say sounds easy on paper...if you use the same magnets, bobbins, base plates, wire, and same number of winds you should have the same result. But as Smorg's logic explains, if it was that easy, none of the hand makers would survive. I won't even touch why that is the case. It has no bearing on the Suhr vs Anderson debate.

Yes, Steadfastly is very hard headed. It matters not what you have to say, he absorbs none of it.

Thanks! ...look, I have a Squier Classic Vibe 60's Strat that I like a lot too, and my main guitar for years has been a Fender USA Standard..nothing particularly fancy there. But, there are a number of details on the Suhr that just make it work best for me. Apart from the excellent hardware and electrics (which could all be modded for sure on a cheaper guitar), there is the compound radius neck (again, if I was building a parts-caster from scratch, this is easy enough)..but the hardest thing to quantify is the "feel"....the Suhr just "feels" better than anything else I've played. For me, it has TONS of what people call "mojo"...but you might pick it up and think "what's the big deal?..it's just a nice Strat".

Price wise, in the UK, it cost about the same as a lower end Fender Custom shop..and frankly, was in a different class to any of those I tried..much more resonant and lively sounding. That's why I bought it.

Sure....Yeah momose are fantastic guitars...If you want strat style guitars then I'd personally take any Navigator, Momose, Freedom guitar works, Scoop, or Van Zandt...just too name a few. Les Paul style Momose, and Navigator are the mains ones I'd look at but there are others. Other companies do more hybrid models like Crews guitars or a company called Combat.

I think if I was laying out some top bills for a new shiny Strat it'd be either Momose or G&L (USA) or an "entry level" Melancon, but none should cost any more than 13-1500 USD

You decide if the price of the guitar makes a big enough difference in tone.I will say that I really like the overall feel of the Anderson over the PRS SE. I haven't spent big dollars on any guitar since buying the Anderson. Only pawnshop guitars for me. Buy them cheap and fix them up. Tone is in the hands and the amp.Just my .02

There is a lot more to a great guitar than just the recorded sound it leaves behind.

lol...that's because you MAKE one's that are just as nice!

But yeah the momose strat I played in Japan knocked me on my ass it was that good. I should have bought it but I don't like paying new prices either. Patience and the used game....lol.

True, I was referring to the playing more than listening for "tone." Good players trump all.

It's a 2002 but it's a pretty standard configuration...I think Pete Thorn has almost the same exact guitar too except for the fact that his has the ML pickups for the single coils and mine has the v60lp's. I do have a set of the ML's on order for a monstrosity I have another building making right now. If you want to see a ****************storm here wait until I unveil that one
