My old black dot studio has a plain fretboard, the dots are on the upper part if I recall. Its also a gloss black with white piping. Ive had it for some years now, only change up has been the knobs as I switched them for old witch hats. Originally I was going to put some GFS Dream 180's in it but the damn thing is so dark sounding its near depressing.

OK, I have only played it acoustically tonight, I'll plug it in tomorrow. First impressions: well made, very clean and precise. No tuning issues or gear slippage. Feels sturdy. Looks fabulous. Very nicely resonant unplugged. So far, it compares favorably with my Dot and black Dot Studio. Fretboard feels good, no rough edges. Hardware seems good. More after I plug it in and really work it out.
