Members honeyiscool
Lesson 1: Marshall Class 5 and I were just made for each other. Lesson 2: The Marshall Class 5 and its built-in speaker were made for each other, because it sounded really {censored}ty when I swapped speakers with my Vox AC4, which has a Celestion G10 Vintage. That just made both amps sound like {censored}. The Marshall Class 5 is really, really good stock, even comes with a JJ EL84, though I swapped with an EH just because. Lesson 3: Marshall doesn't know how to build tube retainers, apparently. The built-in one sucks, I just took it out. Lesson 4: Unrelated, but Scumnicos are wonderful:

Members Ancient Mariner
Not exactly the same, but try a Marshall 18 watter or clone some time. Celestion V10s are a hard rock speaker & have some strong tone shaping & frequency peaks - only good in the right amp. Glad you like it. There is a great demo on youtube by Minnie the moocher. Members jtr654
Jmp 50watt Marshall in head or combo sound like a Class5 but much fuller and louder. It also depends on what speakers you play them through.
Members honeyiscool
Is there a JMP clone that isn't so big? What about a TMB 18 watt clone? I tried Class 5 at rehearsal a couple of days ago and the volume wasn't bad but it was just a bit flubby. Did not sound tight. Also no headroom but it was the flubby that ruined it. I feel like 10-12 watts and a 12" and the flubby would be gone.
