Members Verne Andru
Who's into ER? What is meant by that is instruments that have that little bit extra - usually 5+ string basses, 7+ string guitars, etc. Seems I've an affinity for them. Here's mine: 5-string bass: 7-string guitar: 5-string mandolin 12/Bass VI bouble-neck: Smoke 'em if you got 'em!
Members kayd_mon
I'm a 5-string bass player. I have no 7 or 12 string guitars, however...
Members lz4005
If 6+ strings or extra long scale length is extended range, what would my 24" fretless 3 string guitar be? Or my 2 string bass? Unstended?I've spent as much time playing those as I have my 7 string guitar and 8 string bass.
Members kayd_mon
I remember when The Presidents of the USA had a couple hits on their weird 2 and 3 string instruments. I thought those were so cool, making catchy music without being able to play a "full" chord.
Members Pine Apple Slim
I never really cared for 5 str basses or 7 str guitars, just too confusing to my pea brain thats been playing the normal 4 & 6's for so long. A 5 str bass definately has its practical applications tho.A 5 str mando or fiddle, or an 8 str lap, I could prob get used to quicker because I havn't spent as much time on those instruments. I used to play with a fantastic elderly fiddle player who made his own 5 str fidddle. He played some really mellow and fat sounding double stops down there on those low C & G strings.
