What's that in real money? :poke: *sigh* That joke was funnier when the dollar was actually worth something. Given that all the HC reviews are from the UK, I'm guessing they were not sold under the Columbus name in the US.

Members paulwalesuk
Used to have one, a good copy at the time, but to compare it to a Gibson, I only hope the teacher knows more about music than guitars..

Members Belleek
This is an old thread I know But there is so much misinformation and assumptions made. Yes columbus did make guitars for catalogues etc and were really crappy made with single coil inside humbucker covers. But they did make high end les paul copies too. Pancake nato body beautifully finished. Bolt on neck with Gotoh tuners. Gotoh PAF pickups. Beautifully made on par with grecos. gurneys Ibanez personally I have a mid seventies Ibanez The columbus is a better made guitar! Tell tale signs It has a large Diamond on the headstock. Inlays are different being more like Gibson, are perloid and start at the 3rd fret And you can see through the lacquer on the side of the sunburst one anyway that its pancake not multiple laminate like all the cheaper ones! So when you hear mixed reviews for columbus Les Pauls you'll know why We are talking about two entirely different guitars.

Members catscurlyear
in the early 80`s i had a Shaftsbury les paul copy i was happy with , i thought the grass would be greener with the real deal so i part exchanged the Shaftsbury plus lots of cash for a brand new black custom Gibson LesPaul, after it`s first gig i hated the Gibson but stuck with it for a while and tried to give it a chance to grow on me but it never did,i eventualy swapped the Les Paul for a second hand Gibson SG i loved that but i wish i could have got my old Shaftsbury back. In 1981 I had a sunburst Columbus LP copy identical to this one pictured and loved it. Regrettably I part exchanged it for an Aria Pro II 335 copy, which I grew to hate, due to constant tuning problems and neck flexing. If I could source another example of the Columbia LP copy, I’d be delighted 🙂 I am looking at the Harley Bentons currently, to augment my Fender Tele and 1987 Korean Squire Strat.
