  • Which Chinese made guitars have impressed you the most??

Squier Classic Vibe? Epiphone? Something else?

What newer Chinese made guitars have really impressed you in bang for the buck?

Fender modern player thinline. Very one I have tried has been great. If they had a tele bridge pickup I would have one.

I can't say anything bad about the recent Epiphones I've played (Like the Sorrento, P93 Riviera... well, see my sig).  lol The Gretch Elecromatic double jet I got is a super nice guitar, Same with the Squier Affinity Strat.

I did get a Squier Bullet Strat recently...didn't last long until the wang mechanism bound up, strings wouldn't stay in tune...gave it to my youngest kid to bring to the pawn shop (it was a $129.00 guitar, a lot to some). I was hopeing it would have withstood a little more play time before I broke it...lol

None. The more recent chinese stuff has disapointed across the board. Soft metal for screws, noticeable drop in fretbaord inlay qaulity. Etc etc. I'm glad many mfg are still making there imports in indonesia and korea. Glad jacksons are still being made outside china to.

The Squier J Mascis Jazzmaster is an incredible guitar for the money and you would never think it was made in China unless you saw it in back of the headstock. Aside from the non-locking vibrato it practically stands toe to toe with the Fender Classic Player Jazzmaster and the J Mascis has a nicer neck. The Fender Modern Players are also quite impressive.

I've also been impressed by current Epiphones coming out of China. Their quality control is more consistent compared with what I was seeing just a couple of years ago and they are putting out great affordable guitars. For example, Epiphone Casinos coming out of China now rival the Korean made ones from several years back.

I know certain people still have issues with the word "China" on a guitar, but let's face it. China-made guitars are here to stay and they will continue to get better and better. Besides, it isn't about what it says on the headstock, it's about making music.

I think that Gitter is saying that just since a lot of people do or believe something doesn't make it true. In true troll fashion, he provides an example that attempts to derail the thread and enrage people, though ostensibly it's just supporting his point.

Some mods are marketing crap, sure. Others aren't. Obviously.

@kayd_mon I agree with both gitter and specifically dr. Scottie c's 3rd point but all mods are case dependent meaning that "whatever floats your boat"
