Of course the thread may have gone in a completely different direction:

That there is a tone crack. It's the secret to the extra lightweight bridge that never needs to the adjusted.

Wowswers!!! Enough to make a grown man cry...

          • Hey Miandi---very cool project. Excuse me if this is a stupid question. I'm not a luthier and some of the process is a bit of a mystery to me, but the binding on your project looks like it takes up a fair portion of the fretboard. Is there a reason for this?

The photo shows the binding in the thickness as delivered from stew mac...in the process of being thinned down.

I mentioned earlier that I had pulled the binding on one side of the neck & replaced it due to my dis-satisfaction with my work on it.

The fret nibs are cut on this new piece & I'm blending it into the neck back & into the cutaway at this time.

I'll get some pics up today.

I am doing very well. I am playing quite a bit and not building at all these days, which I think is a temporary thing, just putting more time in working out songs for the band and also I feel like my taste in guitars is changing and that messes with my vision for the finished product a little bit. I have decided not to continue school until my wife is out of college and am looking for a job. Kids are good, two are in trouble right now, but I think that is normal. And spirituality is keeping me sane and insane all at the same time.

That is the quick version How are you? Are you staying busy these days? Building and playing? How's the family?

My quick version: Everyone's well & doing good.

I'm staying busy in the shop & working on my playing.

In a previous photo, we had this...the little step between the neck & body portion of the neck binding.

Now it's blended together & looks good.

1/16" thickness + about .015 or so for fine grit prep paper.

This dimension is consistent around the paremeter of the neck.

This is the side where I pulled & replaced the binding...had to separate it from the body binding below.

I've got just a bit more scraping to do in this area.

The sides of the bindings carry through the radius coming off the neck back profile.

don;t always remember this so...best to all!
