Not really a fan of either.

One MIA Fender Strat, one Gibson Les Paul, one Martin Acoustic, what more do you need?

I think that what you are really sayin' is "I think Skynyrd is better than The Allman Brothers" or "I like Skynyrd more than I like The Allman Brothers".

Hmmm... Well the Freebird solo alone would make me want to rank any band above Skynyrd. That's my least favorite moment in music history.

I do like the Allman Brothers first album (which I have) better than all the Skynyrd stuff I've heard on the radio, for whatever that's worth.

I remember being very rejecting of both the Allmans and Skynyrd when I was first beginning to get really into music. Every R.E.M. biographer had to be a jerk-off and bash them in some way. I still don't understand why. So, I had a cool seventh grade teacher who told me to buy Eat a Peach, which blew my mind. I was still iffy on Skynyrd, though. My uncle set me straight and told me to buy the first two albums, which I loved. Interestingly enough, I've not met many fans who weren't camo-wearing greatest hits fans.

Don't get me wrong - I don't think Skynyrd sucks, and I borrowed one of their albums from a friend once and thought it was pretty good. And I even like the first half of Freebird, I just hate the overlong, repetitive solo.

Also, I prefer the Allman album I heard to the Skynyrd album I heard. Not that my uneducated opinion counts much, but there it is.

Oh, I agree. Pre-Motorcycle Accident Allmans is fantastic and trumps many bands. Had Duane lived, they may have gained the recognition they deserved alongside bands like Zeppelin. I mean, they were really moving into a newer, cool direction with Eat a Peach.

I can't stand the long "Mountain Jam," though.

Dave had a similar post a few years back. Being a native Floridian ( which I have recently migrated to), he may be a bit biased?  I like Skynyrd ( Second Helping, One More From the Road and the Steve Gaines inspired Street Survivors my favorites) but The Allmans' first four albums were major influences on me. I'm probably biased as well, I was at the Live at the Fillmore show in NYC WAY back. Elvin Bishop opened followed by The Brothers with Johnny Winter And the headliners.

I like the jazz influences you hear in Allman Brothers. Very cool.

I gotta say, DaveA seems to have pretty middle of the road taste in music given his previous posts here.

No, one life. Subjective suggests opinion.

Things can only be one or the other, facts or opinions.

Examples of opinions would be things like everyone elses statememts in this thread

Examples of facts would be all my statements in this thread

            See how that works?

Hope that clears it up for you.

Let me know if I need to explain further. Glad to help..

Dave is like Andy Kaufman without the wit. He's humorous from time to time.

I didn't say rap, hiphop, or blues were not"important", idiot.

I just said I'm not a big fan of them. Don't go out of my way to listen to them, and when I do, I don't listen for very long before I find something I prefer. Has nothing to do with "important". ::eyeroll::

Thank, Ill take that as a compliment, seing how as, other than Latka Gravis, I never found Andy Kaufman even remotely witty or humorous.

I think the criteria for finding Kaufman humorous is that you read books on a semi-regular basis. We call it "pumping iron for the mind."

Just so you know, young bucky, as you make assumptions based on nothing, I do have a pre med biology degree. I never made less than an A in any math, or science class, including the two full semesters of calc one and two I completed in ten weeks of summer. That also includes two semesters of organic chem taught by one of the most respected, but toughests org chem professors in the United States who graduated Harvord with his phd at age twenty four, worked for Merc and otger major chemical and medical companies for many decades before he retired, and wrote the org chem book that most of the entire country was using at tgat time. Who cares about him? Point is, he had the reputation of being the most ridiculously tough org chem teacher in the country. People used to completely switch universities to try to get away from him. Yes, I did take those full courses in ten weeks of summer also, I did not only get a's in them, I did, get four perfect test grades on all four exams in my second semester including all extra credit questions, something Mandell said has never happened after teaching tens of thousands of students. And, yeah, ok, soubds like bragging, but I was pretty proud of that. I was pretty proud of that. Just sayin.

I toutored biochemisty and tutored for Mcat medical school entrance exams for extra money during college.

I know you like to pretend you are smart, its cool, and have a high opinion of your intelligence,  usually ranting on some not even relevent point, ususlly missing the point, and sometimes not even having a point, while trying to make your point, but its ok. You will continue to believe you are a genius reguardless of what I or anyone else says. Anyway, my home walls are lined with hundreds and hundreds of books, 99.99% non fiction, all of which I have read, some more than once because I enjoyed them so much, because I read every single night of my life before I sleep. I live in a virtual library of books that I have read. I prefer history, but do still read a bit of science based material too. And a TON of military history as well. I will absolutely DESTROY you or most people you can present in a contest of military history knowlege, especially WW2.  Anyway, just saying, I really love history.

You can find a ton of things to rip on me for, and I'd be guilty of a lot of em. All I ask is when you do, at least be accurate about it and actually KNOW what you are talking about before you do so. I realize it might be a first for you, but you should try it.

I promise I will do the same, when I am ripping, mocking and belittling you.

I don't have to make it up. You give me plenty of amo.

                  Ok? We cool?

                  Good.

                  Back to the hatin then.

And one thing I have never been accused of is not having a sense of humor.

I would get it if there was something to get.

But sorry, Andy Kauffman is STILL  not funny.

Some People used to think he was a comedic genius. They used to think that because they couldnt figure out gow he could be so successful and yet still so not funny.

                  Back to the nonesense.

              Working...
