  • How can you tell what key a group of chords are in?

    Okay,

    How can u tell?

    IE... G,C,D?

    Explain as simply as possible. I have a limited knowledge of theory?

    Thanks,
    G4L

    I should be able to keep it simple since I'm not a theory monster like JonR from guitar.com.

    G,C,D

    You must look at the notes in the chords.

    GMaj = G B D
    CMaj = C E G
    DMaj = D F# A

    The Key of G Major = G A B C D E F# G
