Members rdpar
how do guys like Joe Satriani and Eddie Van Halen get that sound where they have all kinds of sustain but no fuzzy distortion on the high single strings.
Members 1001gear
The amp's real loud for one. lLots of compression and sustain. And the trick is, the amps are so saturated, the distortion disapears into a solid tone.
Members jeremy_green
What gear said but also they have good quality gear. High level pickups and beautiful TUBE amps. Also they have wicked ears so they dial a lot of that stuff out.Something a lot of people don't realize too is when your hands are as strong as theirs are - from all the thousands of hours they play - that they don't need as much gain as you'd think. There is lots there for sure... but less than most imitators use to get the same sound.Their picking hand and technique also plays a MASSIVE role in tone. Where on the string you pick, pick angle, pressure, direction of the stroke - all these factor in too.
