Best settings for amp channel and master with a pedal board?

it all depends... on the amp, on the sound you are after, what pedals you use/have or want to get, it all depends...

and there is no best which fits all...

i have a sovtek midget 50h head, 50watt, bassman like, low and high input

if i want ultra clean sound and all my dirt from my pedals, i use the low input, gain below 12 o'clock, master too match needed volume

if i want dirt only sound, i use high input, gain above 12 o'clock and i'm in marshall like heaven

my favourite setting is high input, gain just above 0, master matching volume, then i have a gritty clean sound, once i push my lpb1 booster in front i'm in mild overdrive, together with ts-9 i rawk, any high gain or fuzz pedal work also great for anything else

only downside with this: with a looper in front, every overdub loop loads the input of the amp more, and after the 3rd loop it becomes overdriven mud...

looping needs a more clean setting....

so it all depends, ah and have i told you i play stereo with a complete different second amp? :)
